Data from several studies that were conducted over a period of four years were used. Scientists analyzed the degree of vitamin content in the blood of more than 2 thousand women after 55 years, taking into account all the existing and appeared diseases of the subjects over the years of study.
Vitamin D significantly reduces the risk of disease. The result was unexpected: low vitamin D levels were strongly associated with an increased risk of developing various types of cancer, namely rectal cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and bladder cancer.
With higher levels of vitamin D, the risk of cancer, on the other hand, fell by more than 60%.
