Moscow Watchdog

Standards and features of the breed Moscow Watchdog

A massive, independent and intelligent service dog, bred by the Soviet pedigree kennel "Krasnaya Zvezda" in the post-war years of the last century. To create a new breed, it was necessary to cross the Caucasian Shepherd Dog, St. Bernard and Russian Hound, and only after almost thirty years in 1985 the breed standard was established.

Character and care

Representatives of this breed are endowed with fearlessness, poise and self-confidence. They have unsurpassed guarding and guard qualities, so in any situation they will protect their owner and diligently protect the house. The Moscow Watchdog is a fairly friendly and affectionate dog, which does not cause inconvenience and excessive noise. It is not designed for living in small areas, as it needs a huge amount of free space.

Undoubtedly, after reading the characteristics of the Moscow Storozheva, many ordinary people will want to buy a puppy of this breed. However, keep in mind that this is an overly active dog, requiring constant training and long walks. Undoubtedly, the breed needs training, but not to develop guarding and protective qualities, which are already well developed at the genetic level, but to learn commands. If you don't train her, you probably won't be able to cope with her when she grows up.

Exterior of the breed

According to international standards, males should be at least sixty-nine centimeters at the withers, and females should be sixty-four. The dog is endowed with a massive, proportional head with a somewhat convex forehead and clearly marked cheekbones. The nose lobe must be black. The animal has a pronounced and deep transition from the forehead to the muzzle. Small, rounded ears, floppy, triangular in shape.

Neck and body

Representatives of this breed have a medium-length neck with well-developed muscles, and they also have a well-marked scruff of the neck. Among breed experts, it is considered acceptable if the dog has a weak suspension in the neck area.

A one-piece and perfectly balanced body, sufficiently proportional, as well as voluminous and deep. Keep in mind that in males, the withers should be longer, more developed and located just above the sacrum. The "watchdog" has a wide and perfectly filled with muscle mass. The peculiarity of the breed is that the front part of the chest should protrude forward, and the lower part should be located just below the elbows.

Description of the tail and limbs

The dog has a fluffy and moderately long tail that reaches its hock. Parallel and sufficiently long limbs, provided that the hind limbs are set somewhat wider. The dog's paws are rounded with fleshy pads.Interesting fact- Claws can be of different colors :).

Note to the owners, in order for your pet to have a cost-effective appearance, keep an eye on its coat. The fur coat of "Muscovites" must be carefully cared for, namely, constantly combed and washed to avoid matting.
